Job Title: Curling Instructor

Status: Non-exempt, hourly, part-time

Pay: $15/hr

Southern California Curling Center (SCCC) is hiring curling instructors to teach private parties, Learn to Curls, and corporate events. The ideal candidate will have strong customer service skills and knowledge of curling. Previous curling instruction experience a plus. All instructors will be required to become Safe Sport certified.  

​Essential Responsibilities:

• Meet and exceed customer expectations by creating a fun, safe, inclusive environment that makes people want to come back again and again
• Teach the fundamentals of curling curriculum, and follow course outline at every event.
• Assist with class setup/ ice prep & equipment preparation 
• Greet class participants, and manage check-in procedures
• Help distribute equipment such as brooms and grippers to all participants
• Provide safety rules and expectations, and help enforce safety rules on and off the ice
• Teach curling delivery, brushing techniques, and explain the rules of the game
• Teach drills, analyze delivery, and provide feedback to help participants improve during skills camps, or multi-week sessions
• Encourage new enrollment by promoting upcoming events, leagues and bonspiels
• Teach adaptive techniques for wheelchair curling, as well as using a push stick for any participant
• Teach youth curlers in a positive, encouraging environment
• Enforce rink rules, policies and procedures
• Follow emergency procedures, including administering first aid, seeking out emergency services when required, or directing evacuation of the building as needed. 
• Assist with the overall cleanliness of the facility, including trash removal, clearing tables before and after an event, stocking of restroom paper goods, and other areas as assigned by SCCC management before and after events.
• Assist with basic equipment and merchandise sales as directed by SCCC event staff, and become proficient with Pro-Shop Point of Sale and inventory.
• Available for events on evenings and weekends. Some daytime availability is a plus.​​
